All members are invited to participate in and participate in the negotiation process. What are the fundamental principles of Swedish labour law and what is the importance of the collective agreement? Our goal is to explain some of the issues raised by foreign representatives regarding labour relations. ETFO residents will now work with their respective school authorities to negotiate local collective agreements. During this decade, most of the labour laws that govern the labour market today were passed, and this explosion of labour laws changed the tradition of settling these issues between parties. However, since the effect of the collective agreement is traditionally greater than individual regulations, many of the issues that are regulated by law in other countries are still set out in collective agreements in Sweden. For example, there are no minimum wage laws. Accession to the EU since 1995 is another important political change and influence on Swedish labour law. The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has entered into a preliminary local agreement with the Council`s 11,141 elementary school teachers, represented by the Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT). This local agreement has yet to be ratified by the ETT Board of Directors and members. IKEM – The Swedish Confederation of Industrial and Chemical Employers is bound by ten collective agreements. Nine of them are workers` contracts. The workers` union Industrifacket Metall is a counterpart in these nine agreements. In addition, IKEM – the Swedish employers` organisation for industry and chemicals – is bound by a collective agreement for employees.
The counterparties to this agreement are the economic trade unions Ledarna, Unionen, Sveriges Ingenjörer and Naturvetarna. These agreements regulate all issues such as conditions and termination of employment contracts, working time, minimum wage, holiday pay and sickness benefits, etc. As has already been said, these agreements are often supplemented by local collective agreements. «I am very pleased that the discussions between the TDSB and the ETT have been concluded and that we have reached a provisional local agreement.
