The General Agreement On Trade In Services (Gats)

In accordance with article IV, paragraph 1, the increasing participation of developing countries in world trade in services is facilitated by specific negotiated commitments on: (a) enhancing their service capacities and their efficiency and competitiveness, including through access to commercial technologies; (b) improving their access to distribution channels and information networks; and (c) liberalization of market access in the sectors and types of supply of interest to them. The format of the present report is as follows: section II deals with general principles and obligations, including dispute settlement and institutional rules. In Section III, the specific sectoral provisions contained in the Annexes, decisions, declarations and agreements are analysed by sector. .
